The Saint-Sulpice Marsh
Between land and sea, the lower Risle valley plays an important part in the humid zones of the Seine estuary. Its ecological importance is due to the marshy meadows, its ponds, its vast network of ditches and groves. The site of Saint Sulpice of Grimbouville is the focus of the local authorities' attention in the Eure region. A discovery path allows to understand the part played by the humid spaces on the Park territory.
The Nature Reserve of the Courtils near Bouquelon:
Situated in the Vernier Marsh, these bands of land are one km long for a few scores of meters broad and partly correspond to " Courtils" (:gardens in ancient French).
At Bouquelon, 40 acres of courtils are now registered as voluntary Nature Reserve. They shelter a rich natural heritage and fragile species. Highland cattle, Breton pigs, Shetland sheep which keep the site clean and fight reforestation. A discovery path is available on one of the bands for visiting and discovering its biological treasures.
